There were 452 responses to the survey as a whole, which is almost double what we got last year, so thank you to everyone who participated!
If you want to see the raw data, you can find that here. I had thoughts about the data, but compiling that into another post would be too much of a hassle. Feel free to send me asks about it though!

was extremely tempted to put twilight for least favorite. unfortunately he is my favorite to write from the perspective of (he has taken over most of my wips. help) and that probably counts for something. WILD on the other hand. hooo boy how the hell do i characterize this gargoyle. why is he Like That. least favorite it is

very good fandom to be in :) everybody is very nice
It's a straight up crime that Wars lost the aesthetics poll so quickly. He has such a peak Link design with the best colors. Ugh I'm getting wistful.
FROGS. FROGS. FROGS. ALSO HAPPY PRIDE MONTH. FROGS. FROGS. FROGS. FROGS. FROGS.
I will fight Hylia herself and the next person who implies Twi can't handle spice. If we're going to lean into him being southern/Midwestern, which is an alright stero type for our rancher, please keep in mind the culture you're basing him off. The south and midwest can handle their spice, I assure you. Have you ever had authentic Louisiana gumbo? It will melt you tongue off. Or some good old fashion spicy fried chicken? I promise the real stuff has quite a kick. (In all seriousness, though. It's more important that you're having fun. And even I can admit the idea of Twi being an Ordonian who can't handle his spice is more than a little funny.)
I am an OoT Link edgelord and have been since early 2017. So, in September of that year, when an artist by the name of jojo56830 puts out a lineup of nine different Links and the Hero of Time is there – the oldest, no eye, Hero’s Shade armor? I saw that one sketch and just thought “oh this is gonna be bad.” Yeah of course he has the coolest design. By the way, it’s only a matter of time until Fierce Deity shows up in the comic and I have reason to believe it could be this current Dawn arc. Dawn … Dawn of a New Day … and who brought about the Dawn of a New Day? Fierce Deity. Twilight is recovering but still injured and what will happen if he falls again? Fierce Deity is coming and we need to be prepared. In this essay I will—
Remember that time when someone put the whole script of the bee movie in here? I’m not that dedicated, and I don’t have that time, but let us remember and hope someone else does it again this time. Cause someone is bound too. We’re all crazy enough to do it. Alright, love you and stay hydrated pls!
Hi! I joined this fandom really recent but i’ve always seen LU stuff on pinterest and elsewhere. Only recently have i actually took the time to understand the fandom and get back into LOZ stuff and i adore the characters and story! The more and more fanart, fanfics, and comics i see about the different Links the more i love them all. It’s such a pain to pick just one i like or one i don’t like because they’re all so unique. I love this fandom and hope to get more involved!! Have a wonderful rest of your day :]

Butlermas artdump! 2022 May - 2023 April
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
youtube
▲ "At your service!" ▽ "Leave it to me."
Before diving into the sketches I need to talk about this song. This remix slaps me to the moon and back. How can you improve perfection? You can't! So better head over to a new track! In other words, the Subway Bosses theme can't apparently be beaten, but this remix plays no second fiddle to it! Let this sexy jazz piano duet accompany this post featuring the handsome gents in their fanciest attires yet. (Fun observation: The song shifts themes pretty much in sync with the Sync Moves being used in Pokémas!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
By chance I got into submas & installed Pokemas during the first run of The Curious Tea Party event, a week before butler Ingo's banner. I was so hyped to meet the boys in game so soon, and I was super lucky to get Ingo on his release day! Emmet on the other hand eluded me until the very last day ahah (the struggle was real), but I was so glad to FINALLY REUNITE THEM. The agony for their situation was so painfully fresh at the time, that brought a bit of relief to the suffering ahah. At first the costumes felt a little strange to me, but now I adooore them. Dang, do they look dashing and sleek in those fancy tailcoats and mirrored monocles!!
Tumblr media
One of the first doodles of the butlers, still learning how to draw the sillies and their funny hats.
Love the suit designs! The tailcoats make the twins look even more graceful and slender, and the tails would float when they dash around! The hats are almost comically large, but after drawing them many times they actually look the best that way! This time no funny clown shoes, but these classy loafers look pretty chunky! And fittingly they are wearing cross ties, which is also another word for railroad ties. Yes there's another train pun in their outfits! Pretty clever design! Emmet's outfit has warm light grey (I believe it's because in a white suit he would look ready for the altar ahah) with sapphire blue accents, while Ingo's is a grayish dark blue with ruby red accents for the contrast they have going in all of their outfits. Furthermore they embrace the ruby and sapphire colors in their EX suits, which make them look even more luxurious!! I imagine them wearing the regular costumes during daylight hours, then switch to EX for late night events and parties. About the details. The metal bits are silver and gold, both reflecting their personalities. Emmet likes to dress bold and go for the gold, while Ingo dons the slightly more modest silver. EX costumes trade them for cool onyx black. That's enough twaddling for this round ahah! Hope you enjoy the rest of my doodles, attempts and experiments! More butler art coming up soon!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
They're eager to serve at any given opportunity, ready to dash by your side if you just give them a word, accompany you wherever you want to go, make sure you feel safe and protected, and offer to become your personal butlers... wouldn't that be a dream! Butlermas are the ultimate official submas fanservice!
"If I can be of service in any way, please let me know! I will come to your aid faster than an express train!"
"If you're ever out alone, please feel free to call on me. I'll get you to your destination safe and sound!"

The Smile's 2024 Tour Rehearsal Setup
Tumblr media Tumblr media
On March 5 and March 6, The Smile shared photos taken by Ade B during rehearsals for the band's 2024 tour dates. In the photos, the band are set up in Air Studios’ Lyndhurst Hall. It's a space where Jonny has frequently recorded orchestras, including for the Phantom Thread soundtrack. A photo from circa-2014 revealed that Radiohead’s string arrangements for Spectre (and possibly Man of War) were also recorded in the room.
The Smile’s live setup largely resembles the one they used for their tour dates last year. This isn’t a surprise, since many songs from the band’s latest album were written on the road. However, there is some new gear which seems to be intended for material off the new album. Further down in this post, we’ll list all of the gear, but we’ll highlight the changes first.
Electric Cello
Almost certainly the biggest surprise is that Jonny has added an electric cello and an electric viola to his setup. In the past, Jonny has occasionally played bowed string instruments on recordings, but they were always acoustic instruments, and he's never brought them on tour. Most of the time, Jonny only used his viola to sketch out string arrangements, which were then recorded by other players. And at live shows, Jonny has always bowed his electric guitar or bass to emulate those string arrangements, whether it's the harmonics on Pyramid Song or the col lengo crunch on Burn The Witch.
However, Jonny has started to play the cello more regularly in the past few years. In an interview from the 2010s, Jonny mentioned that he could make noises that he’s happy with on a cello, but claimed his left hand isn’t precise enough to perform with it. Then in 2019, he mentioned that, compared to viola, the cello "feels much more natural to hold and so much easier to make a nice sound on — I only wish I had moved on to it when I was a kid” (The Times). In 2021, he was credited with cello in the liner notes for the Power of the Dog soundtrack, applying banjo-style technique to the instrument. And this year, he was credited with cello in the liner notes for Wall of Eyes. In fact, Jonny can be seen playing his acoustic cello in a couple of polaroids posted in March 2023, during the recording of the new album.

Digital “Upright” Piano
On every tour since 1997, Radiohead have brought an acoustic upright piano on tour. Usually they brought a Yamaha U1, though more recently they’ve favored a Kemble KC121 (essentially a U1 built at Kemble’s factory in the UK, rather than by Yamaha in Japan). The same was true for Atoms for Peace shows in 2010 and 2013. The Smile followed this trend, bringing an acoustic upright along for all of their tour dates from 2021-2023.
However, given how few of the Smile's songs require piano, it’s understandable that they’d switch to a digital instrument instead. The one they chose is a Nord Grand digital piano, which features fairly authentic piano hammer-action made by the piano maker Kawai.
For some solo shows in support of Anima, Thom brought a Waldorf Zarenbourg for sampled acoustic and electric piano sounds. Thom only played it for a couple songs each night, so it was understandable that he didn’t want to tour with an acoustic upright. However, it’s interesting that The Smile are still using their vintage Rhodes electric piano, rather than using the Nord Grand for Rhodes sounds in addition to acoustic piano sounds. Perhaps keyboard action is the reason: the hammer action of the Nord might be accurate for piano, but it’s probably a little heavy for Rhodes playing. Plus it’s clear that the band enjoy having a lot of keyboard on stage to experiment with.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Closeups showing the Nord Grand in its custom black stand.
Sequential Prophet 6
One benefit of the digital piano is that its shorter stand leaves space for a keyboard to rest on top. For this tour, Thom has brought along his Prophet 6, which he previously used for the Suspiria soundtrack and for shows in support of Anima. This isn’t the first time that the band have mixed piano and synth. Thom did velcro a Dave Smith Instruments Tetra to Radiohead’s upright piano from 2012-2013. However, that synth saw little use, perhaps because of the Tetra’s minimal control layout.
The band now have three Prophet synths in their active setup: the Dave Smith Prophet ’08 beneath the modular, the Sequential Prophet 5 REV4 on top of the Rhodes piano, and the Sequential Prophet 6 on top of the digital piano.
Earthquaker Devices Blumes
In addition to the Earthquaker Devices Plumes overdrive on Thom’s board (note the green), it looks like he’s added a Blumes overdrive as well (the similarly-sized yellow box). The Blumes is intended as a bass-friendly version of the Plumes. Thom was already using the Plumes with his bass guitar for a very punchy sound, so it’ll be interesting to see how he uses the bassier Blumes.
The green of the Plumes and yellow of the Blumes can also be seen on Thom’s backup pedalboard, which is resting on top of one of the gear cases by Thom’s guitar stands.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Closeups of Thom's guitar and vocal pedalboards (left) along with his backup guitar pedalboard (right).
Eventide Pitchfactor
It looks like Thom has added an Eventide Pitchfactor to his vocal pedalboard. It's in the spot where he had an Eventide H9 on the last tour, so it's likely that he was using the H9 for pitch shifting sounds. The H9 features all of the algorithms from the Pitchfactor (as well as the other Eventide pedals), but it has far fewer knobs so controlling it is more cumbersome.

SKETCH DUMP #1
I decided to do good old sketch dumps again, because I miss throwing them together and posting them, like I did on DA back in the days. I had about 40 of those in the end, I think, before I fell off the earth in early 2014, and I'm curious how many it's going to be with this second round!
Quick scribble of Jett. I still need a proper headshot for her at some point, I love her.
Grown up Cal Fitzgibbons. Yes, every man in my universe needs epic hair in some way. 😂
Avery and squishy little Dex!
Trevor Abrahamsen, a side OC who is going to play a bit of a role in Hallie's life AND Linda, Fozzy's wild ex-fling and mother of his son. She's a Nancy Spungen kinda type, and while she won't have a bigger role, I still wanna draw her again at some point. 😂
Teenage Mark (from the 2006 gang) and the one true love of his life. I'm currently trying to pick a name for her; I got quite a few good ones to choose from already!
Another grown up Cal. I love him so much, not much is left from the entitled teenager he used to be.
Daryl is looking after Dex... and it's been a bit too quiet for a bit too long. Never a good sign!
Lancie and Dallas, June 2023, in the Aberdeen Opera House, only moments before Lancie meets an old friend entirely by chance. :)
Fozzy playing piano for Lucy. They were the ship that didn't sail far. It hit an iceberg, exploded the very same second and sunk. 😂
SMEWCH!
Well, wasn't that fun. See you next time!

QUEEN POLYWEEK 2023: COMING TO YOUR CITY!
Tumblr media
Welcome to the annual event of poly!Queen featuring our favourite Brits as special guests. No entry fee, no small print. Just a celebration of your creative outpour!
WHEN AND WHERE?
From 5th through 8th May! (Fri-Mon)
Post your fanfic to our Ao3 collection Queen Poly!Week 2023 and @ us on tumblr on any of your creations so we can reblog and share! Additionally, you can use the tag #QueenPolyWeek2023.
WHO IS WELCOME?
Anyone! We applaud any form of artistic creation and will take a good look at all of the entries. Fanfic, art, mood boards, edits, playlists, you name it. You have an old sketch you’d like to include? Do! A fic idea miraculously fitting one of the prompts? Share! Write an epic or a haiku, we’ll love both! As long as it focuses around polyamorous Queen, it’s welcome here.
Note: if you would like to stay anonymous during the event, worry not. We’re here to answer any (further) questions in our inbox, respecting your boundaries. Ao3 and tumblr Asks both have an anonymous function, easy to be utilised. Discreetness is a given.
Find this quick guide on how to post anonymously on Ao3. If you prefer tumblr, you can always DM us and we will share your creations on your behalf, top secret.
WHAT IS POLY?
We want the event to be respectful towards all, which means being mindful of the nature of polyamorous relationships. That being said, any pairing that includes three or more partners is more than welcome. See more information and guidance, kindly provided by last year’s organisers.
Our rule: your work must circle around a minimum of one of the Queen boys.
OT4 is a classic. But it’s not a must.  Feeling ambitious and you’re good at juggling multiple characters at the same time? Throw in the roadies and maybe even canon lovers and see where that wild road leads you. Or maybe you’re more of a OT3 person. If you want to write a Dom/Debbie/Roger, you totally can. Draw that Brian/Tim/Crystal you've been thinking about for ages now. It’s called niche for a reason.
However, be mindful of your audience. Focus lies on Queen and the entourage.
Note: platonic or friendly themes are naturally as strongly encouraged as romantic ones. Give us a solid poly narrative to feast on and we’re sold.
PROMPTS?
You bet. We have fashioned a few amazing categories into prompts for each day, there to inspire or give direction if you're lost for ideas. Follow them, don’t follow them, combine different days or all six at once — the world lies at your feet.

ADDITIONAL RULES?
To ensure a fun environment surrounding this event, we kindly ask you to mind the following set of rules:
Support creators! They provide you with their lovely skills and do it for free. Make an effort to leave kudos, comment, like, reblog — play your part in keeping fandom alive.
Tag your work appropriately! If necessary, include trigger and NSFW/18+ warnings. Ao3 provides you with their information and tagging system upon creating a new draft. Find this helpful guide for more detailed explanation.
The same applies to tumblr posts! By manually adding a :readmore: cut on mobile or clicking the "Add read-more link" symbol that appears on the far right of an empty paragraph on desktop, you make sure readers can evade any triggers or NSWF/18+ content. Please also use this function if you post a longer fanfic.
Do not engage with hateful feedback! You don't owe them a minute of your life. If you find ugly comments under your work, delete them. If you feel you want to inform us about it, please do and we'll support you through it. For prevention, Ao3 has options for comment moderation and visibility to users under "Edit My Works"/"Post New" > "Privacy". You can always choose to moderate your comments.
As the audience, do not supply negativity of any sort! We do not tolerate hateful feedback or comments about anyone involved in the event (i.e. creators, Queen and associates, specific pairings/tokens). Do yourself a favour and read tags and warnings before opening any work. If necessary, click away. Don’t Like, Don’t Read is an easy way to coexist in fandom. Self-govern your consumer experience on any such platform and your life will be less stressful, promise.
Do not interact with NSFW/18+ content if you're a minor! If you want to consume it regardless, we can’t stop you. However, please do not leave any comments or feedback, or otherwise announce your presence to the creators as it might make them feel uncomfortable.
We encourage all of you to participate. No need to feel shy to share, after all, it’s a judgement free zone! Don't worry if you don't manage to finish your contribution in time, we also accept late entries. The Ao3 collection will stay open for a while and you can always find us here. Just don’t forget to @ us!
If you don’t have time to create, you can still participate in the event as a patron of fine arts. Trust us, your feedback is as important part of the successful event as are all the creations.
We wish you all the motivation and inspiration! Have fun and be active!
If you have any further questions, feel free to contact us!

Adrien was having a miserable day, but he knew what would make it better. It was practically second nature by now to set his phone to play a recording of his practice sessions, drop it on the music desk of his piano, and slip out the window all in the single breath of, “Plagg, claws out!”
It wasn’t just becoming Chat Noir that made his day better. It was a specific rooftop on a specific balcony that was home to a specific friend.
Time with Marinette always cheered him up. It was so easy to become lost in whatever project she was working on, or even just to indulge in the warm comfort of her parents’ baking. Her smile was infectious, her stress was overwhelming, and her food was perfection. It was the best escape he could think of.
But when he arrived on the roof of Tom and Sabine’s Boulangerie and Patisserie, the balcony was empty. There was no sign of Marinette with school work spread around her, or sketches of her latest project, or freshly made snacks.
He supposed it wasn’t fair of him to assume that she would be home on a Sunday. She had friends, friends that she was allowed to see and hang out with. But, unable to help himself, he peeked through her window. In the gap between the flimsy pink curtains, he could see her lying on her bed, fully dressed, on top of her covers.
He used his baton to double-check the time. Ten in the morning seemed a bit early for a nap.
He put his hand on the window pane, merely to steady himself, but it fell open beneath his touch. He tumbled inside, and his quick reflexes turned a disastrous fall into a neat tuck and roll. He popped up at Marinette’s bedside and merely stared down at her, unsure how to introduce himself after that entrance.
She wasn’t napping. She looked right up at him, eyes furrowed confusion, with one hand pressed against her stomach and the other half-way to a box of bonbons.
Chat Noir’s first instinct was to apologize for entering unannounced and uninvited, but the chaotic urge for quips was always so much more pressing than his lifetime of lessons on good manners. “You’ll get sick if you eat too many of those,” he said.
Marinette pouted up at him and popped another bonbon in her mouth. “When did you become a doctor?”
“Last week,” he said. “Left my labcoat at home, though. Let’s see… I think the diagnosis is… lazy Sunday morning?”
She rolled her eyes. She looked uncannily like Ladybug when she made that face, which only made him grin. His day of distraction was already going excellently.
“I’m not having a lazy Sunday,” she grumbled, “I’m…” but she didn’t finish. “It’s… just a stomachache,” she finally said, and reached for another chocolate.
Chat Noir opened his mouth tell her that maybe soup would be a better choice than chocolates if she had a stomachache—medical doctor or not, he at least knew that much—when it occurred to him that maybe she had exactly the sort of stomachache chocolate would help with.
So instead of another attempt at wit, he collapsed right onto her stomach, stretching the wrong way across her bed.
“Oomph—Chat!” She groaned and tried to shove him off, but he only settled in.
“Consider me your purr-sonal heating pad,” he grinned.
“You dork,” she grunted and shoved him again. But she didn’t protest any further. Instead, she rested her hands on his back. One of her fingers fidgeted aimlessly with his belt.
“Is it working?” he asked.
She was silent for a long moment before finally admitting, “Yes.”
He grinned and closed his eyes as her hand drifted from the small of his back, up his neck, and into his hair. A low rumble started in his chest and curled around the back of his throat—a quiet, contented purr. His purrs were rare things, only finding their way out of his chest when he was perfectly content, and that didn’t happen very often.
“How’d you know this would help?” she murmured as her fingers played lazily with his ears, mimicking the twirling her other hand was still doing around his belt.
He folded his hands under his chin and tipped his head up, into her touch. “My mom used to get really bad stomach pains,” he said. “My dad would buy her chocolates and wine and flowers.” He bit down on his tongue, afraid he might say too much and give himself away.
It wasn’t just his father that would comfort his mother through her aches. Adrien used to curl up in his mother’s lap and watch her movies with her. He’d spend an entire day curled up against her, warm and content in her embrace. When he was younger, he’d felt guilty for liking when his mother would get ill, but she had explained to him that it wasn’t really an illness. It was a chronic condition, related to her inability to have children, and she’d told him that he was her miraculous angel. She’d often called him an angel, but that was the first time he had almost believed her.
Marinette’s hands stilled in his hair and on the small of his back. “You’ve never talked about your family before.”
“Well—secret identity and all.” And it occurred to him that he had stopped purring.
She shifted beneath him in an attempt to sit up. He rolled over ever so slightly, still pinning her legs down, still providing warmth and pressure as she curled over him.
“It sounds like your dad really loves your mom,” she finally said.
“Yeah, he did. I mean—he does.”
Marinette tipped her head and furrowed her brow as she looked down at him, but before she could ask him any more questions, he shifted his weight and dug an elbow into her thigh. She flinched and reflexively jerked her knees up into his gut, throwing him off of her.
He tumbled to the floor and gave her an upside down grin. Her concentrated expression, though, was unfooled.
But she didn’t ask anymore questions. Instead, she scooted over before laying back down, careful to make enough room for him on the bed next to her.
Chat Noir accepted her invitation.
As he laid down beside her, he pressed one hand into her stomach and tucked the other one behind his head, creating his own makeshift pillow and ignoring the dozens Marinette had clustered at the head of her bed. He ran the pads of his fingers along the curve of her stomach, softly but firmly.
Her eyes remained fixed on the ceiling, but she dropped one hand over his shoulder so she could continue playing with his ears. The other found its way to his hand on her stomach, where it trailed absently along the lines of his tight, leather-like gloves that cloaked his hands.
He couldn’t help but wonder, as he so often had with Ladybug, what it would be like to feel her skin against his properly.
In a voice hardly above a whisper, she said, “Thank you, Chat.”
“Any time,” he murmured against her cheek.
“You know if…” She gnawed on her lower lip and Chat Noir had to stifle a smile. He always loved watching Marinette work through a difficult problem. She didn’t have the finesse that his lady did, but there was a stubborn streak shared between them.
“If you really are a stray kitty,” she said, “then you could, I don’t know, stay here if you liked.”
He laughed and the bell at his throat jingled as he moved. “I believe that I am well-collared.”
Her lips twitched with a poorly suppressed grin. “Do you have a tag somewhere with your home address?”
“Tucked somewhere in this tight suit is a card that says, ‘If lost, return to Ladybug.’”
She laughed, finally, and it felt good to hear her laugh. His purr crawled its way back into his throat.
She turned to look at him and their noses brushed. “I was resigned to having a miserable day,” she said, and her breath was warm against his lips, “but I’m glad you turned up.”
He wanted to quip something about leaving her window open, something about cat burglars, something witty and charming rolled into one, but he found words hard to form as his nose was overwhelmed by the strawberry of her lip balm and the chocolate on her breath.
She tipped her head, ever so slightly. He didn’t know if it was an invitation but he leaned in anyway, offering an invitation of his own, and she accepted. Their lips met and his tongue flooded with all the bittersweet scents in her mouth. His hand stopped pressing into her stomach and instead shifted to her hip, gripping her like he was afraid she might slip away. Her hand, similarly, wound through his hair and pulled him against her.
It was the least chaste kiss Chat Noir had ever had, and he wondered if it was because he was Chat Noir or if it was something in Marinette. If it was her, it was a side of her he didn’t know, but he was glad to get a glimpse of it.
She pulled away, and her blue eyes seemed to burn with the heat of stars, hot and white and glistening.
“Do kisses on your face help your tummy?” he asked.
For an answer, she leaned into another kiss.
The initial fire of the kiss dimmed into simmering coals. Her grip in his hair loosened, but her hands still pressed against his skull and held him close. He let his hand on her stomach go back to firm circles near her pelvis. They kissed until the taste of chocolate waned and he could no longer tell the difference between her taste and his own.
The only thing that forced them apart was the sound of heavy footsteps on the ladder below Marinette’s room.
“Marinette!” her father called. “Your mother and I just finished some chocolate croissants!”
And as the hinges of the trapdoor creaked, Chat Noir choked on his own lazy purr. He slipped out the window he had come in as fluidly as water passing through the neck of the bottle. He perched on her roof and listened to her, with a rather flustered voice, thank her father for the sweets, and assure him she hadn’t been doing anything—“Just texting Alya!” she said in a voice pitched several registers above her natural tone.
Chat Noir glanced back in the direction of his home, wondering if his father had uncovered his own deceit yet.
He’d never shared so much of himself with anyone, not as Chat Noir, and rarely as Adrien. But, whatever Marinette took away from his brief story, he wasn’t a stray. He had his own home; he had Ladybug; and if he ever needed it, he knew that he would be more than welcome here.

Gather The Posse - Yeehawgust 1
Part of Yeehawgust 2023 [ WIP intro ] [ my Yeehawgust tag]
Length: 500~ words Warnings: alcohol, mention of alcohol abuse Backstory: after a falling out with the Goldridge Rebellion, Rosalind attempts to make amends and bring the posse back together to take back their town once and for all.
Let me know if you would like to be tagged in future yeehawgust posts from me!
Tumblr media
If one thing could bring the group together, it was good booze. Lucinda graciously offered her saloon to Rosalind - for a price, of course. The rebellion needed this meeting to shake off hard feelings. A concrete plan was needed if they were going to wrench Goldridge from the clutches of Caldwell and his crew.
Wood squeaked against wood as Rosalind finished rearranging the last of the tables into the center of the room. From her overcoat pocket she unfurled the shittiest map of Godridge she sketched by hand the night before and smoothed it over the top of the tables along with some nubs of colored pencils that she ‘borrowed’ from Clementine’s room back at the Jacobs ranch.
“Still got that whiskey, Cinda?” Rosalind called over her shoulder, eyeing the squares and lines that made up her map.
“Yeah and you still got the cash?” Lucinda’s gruff voice crooned from the saloon’s kitchen. “What makes you think Eliza and the rest of ‘em want to see your face again?”
Rosalind snorted, shrugging her overcoat off and depositing it over the back of a worn out chair. “‘Cause who’s gonna turn down booze in this town?”
When the hour to meet came and went, it felt as if the world stood still. The oil lamps on the tabletops filled the saloon with a warm glow, creating a beacon for the rest of the group to follow as night swallowed Goldridge. Rosalind stared at the front door, listening to the maddening tick, tick, tick of Lucinda’s grandfather clock. The whiskey and moonshine bottles sat on top of her map, practically begging to be popped open and swallow her anxieties.
But before long, the group arrived.
Su Yang clambered through the door first, dressed in that beautiful ruby gown Rosalind liked so much. In her arm, she dragged a disgruntled Charlie who shot the outlaw with a scowl when they passed her. Anna appeared in the doorway not too long after, following her brother’s lead in side-eyeing Rosalind. They gathered around the table, seemingly in high spirits, though they ignored the woman who had sent for them. Lucinda joined their ranks, pouring generous glasses for everyone.
Rosalind held her breath. They were missing just one crucial piece to this puzzle. Shuffling to the door of the saloon, she stole a peek outside to see if she could make out any other stragglers. The main road of Goldridge offered nothing but the faint sound of jovial piano music from the mayor’s home where Caldwell’s gang partied.
“I hope I’m not too late,” Eliza’s exasperated voice drifted from the back of the saloon. She brushed her brilliant gold hair out of her face before adjusting a sleeping Clementine on her hip. Rosalind’s heart nearly burst and it took every ounce of self control to not run over and envelope the woman in her arms. After their screaming match the other day, she wanted nothing more than to grovel at Eliza’s feet and worship her like the goddess she was.
“Not too late at all,” Rosalind reassured her, flashing her a crooked smile. “Gang’s all here.”

2023 Writing/Stories Look-Forward
thanks to everyone who's read and liked and commented and tagged and sent in asks for my writing this year!
today i sat down to sketch out a vague--and definitely not set in stone plan for 2023--and I thought i'd share it with you guys, from a very high level and with the caveat that it will likely not be followed to the letter as i always inevitably bite off more than i can chew
but i lik to shoot high! lol so here's what i've got
Main goal: finishing the first draft of Nothing's Wrong with Dale and getting it all posted. this is the goal i'm most confident about and will lik, cannibalize other parts of my plan to achieve. i also have some like bonus offshoots for Dale, but those will likely get posted after the story is over and so are not part of the plan
Short Story goals: I plan to finish both Selfish (f!naga) and Free Piano: Haunted (m!spirit). I want to put out my Sci-Fi oneshot Snapped (m!alien) and the three part Seen (f!deity) - both of which i posted sneak peeks of a little while ago for that 'WIPs u didn't finish this year' ask meme.
Then it gets a little fuzzy - i'll either do two shorter 5 parts fics (both with winged monsters f&m) or one longer fic (probably Goddaughter or Quid Pro Quo - both m!demon fics), depending on what i'm feeling like for lik April-May ish. My summer fic will be about a runalong. In the fall/winter, I'll post the rest of Free Piano: Haunted and Feral (f!hellhound).
Choosing these from all my ideas was super hard, but I think i'm happy with what i picked (and all are technically subject to change).
At least, that's the plan.
As far as the short term, i plan to finish off some shorter things now (Selfish, Snapped, and Seen - idk y they all start with 'S' lol) in January. After that February and March are literally the busiest time of year for me at work and this will not be an easy busy season so I might literally post nothing (which is another reason that part of my plan is so up in the air). I will be working a minimum of 6 days a week, 55 hours a week - likely more than that so my brain will not be up for much writing during that time.
Hiatus: Last year I was able to keep posting Nothing's Wrong with Dale for some of January, but that's not going to be the case this year - putting up half of the next 4 part arc and then not finishing it until April would be unfair imo - both to you for the cliffhanger and to me because i will be able to write them far better if i write all oft he at once/in a row. So no more Dale until April, I'm afraid. The only reason I'll be able to post some of the other things at all in January is because most of them are already partially done where as next Dale is not started.
Feel free to send in any asks about upcoming/current stories! Happy New Year!
(please note that this is me, if anything, overestimating how much I'll be able to write and asking me to change my mind about say, Dale, to be more frequent etc will not work)

Ladynoir July 2023 Day 17: Roses
Read all the entries on AO3
--
Chat was running late. He knew even as he jumped out his bedroom window that he was going to be the last to arrive, but it just couldn’t be helped. No sooner had he finished his dinner had he been summoned into his father’s office. He’d then sat through a two hour lecture about an upcoming fashion show, for which he’d need to miss a whole week of school.
Needless to say, he’d been very glad to be dismissed and was even gladder to now be racing across the rooftops. He felt better as soon as he saw spotted the group of superheroes lounging on the rooftop of Collège Françoise Dupont. The sight of his friends, and especially of his lady, always lifted his mood.
“Bonsoir!” Chat called out as he landed. “Sorry I’m late. It’s my dad’s fault.”
“Of course it was. We expected nothing less,” Rena Rouge said. “What’s it this time?”
“A stupid fashion show,” Chat said, making his way over. He high-fived Carapace and leaned down to drop a quick kiss onto Ladybug’s cheek. She was so preoccupied with her sketchbook that she barely acknowledged him, but Chat didn’t take it personally. He knew how she was when she had a new idea in her head.
“Oh, the one in two weeks? Daddy got an invite to that,” said Queen Bee. “But the program didn’t mention that you’d be a model. I looked.”
Chat sighed. “I wasn’t supposed to be, but…” He shrugged. He was pretty sure that Gabriel had touched upon why Adrien was being roped into it at the last minute, but honestly he’d tuned his father out by that point. At the end of the day, it didn’t really matter why.
“That sucks,” Carapace said sympathetically. They all knew there was no way Adrien was going to be able to get out of it.
“Yeah. I’ll need you guys to take notes for me. And Viperion, this means I won’t be able to make the Kitty Section practices,” Chat said glumly, dropping to the ground.
Viperion gave him a kind smile. “It’s not a problem, but we’ll miss you.”
“I’ll miss you too,” Chat said. He loved playing with Kitty Section when he got the chance. Playing the piano could be kind of boring when you were doing it all alone. Being able to play with other people made it a lot more interesting.
“Your dad got tickets, you said?” Rena said, turning to Queen Bee. “Maybe one or two of us could go each day and hang out when Adrien isn’t busy.”
Queen Bee shrugged and nodded. “Sure. I doubt Daddy will use the tickets. He’ll be there on the first day just to make an appearance, but probably not after that.”
“But what about school?” Chat said.
“We’ll see,” Rena said, a smirk tugging at the corner of her mouth.
“Done!” Ladybug cried out suddenly, startling all of them. Queen Bee jumped so much she almost fell over onto Viperion.
“Done what?” Chat said, pressing a hand to his racing heart.
“Chat? When did you get here?” Ladybug looked so adorably confused by his presence that Chat couldn’t help smiling. He leaned over and kissed her on the mouth this time, and actually got a kiss back in return.
“I just got here,” he said. “What were you working on?”
“Oh. It’s a dress,” Ladybug said. She held up the sketchbook and turned it so they could see. She had sketched out the image of a dress with a flowing skirt; the top of the dress was sleeveless with a high collar. Roses had been artfully added to both the collar and the hem of the dress. The sketch looked incredibly professional in Chat’s opinion.
“I like the roses. Are they supposed to be real?” Rena said.
“Well, I’d like them to be, but that’s probably not very practical,” Ladybug said. “I originally wanted to do the whole skirt out of rose petals, and then just have this one rose on the collar under the chin. Like Chat’s bell.” She reached out and lightly tapped his bell, prompting a jingle. “But that seemed like a lot of work. It would require a ton of hand stitching. And buying all those petals would be expensive.”
“But it sounds gorgeous,” Queen Bee pointed out, looking somewhat reluctant to be saying it, but also like she couldn’t help herself.
“Yeah… Maybe I’ll change it back.” Ladybug frowned down at her sketch thoughtfully, and Chat smiled.
He didn’t say it, but he sure wished it was Marinette’s designs he’d be wearing down the runway. They were a thousand times better than his father’s.

An introduction to Jeff Buckley: "I would listen to anything: The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Joni Mitchell, Judy Garland, Robert Johnson, Thelonious Monk, Bartk, Mahler. And I asked a lot of questions".
By Neil Crossley published October 17, 2023
From his soaring, unbridled falsetto to his sonic artistry, Jeff Buckley defied conventions and left a catalogue of songs that is timeless and unique
On the night of 29 May, 1997, six weeks shy of his 31st birthday, Jeff Buckley waded fully clothed into a channel of the Mississippi River in Memphis. He was carefully watched from the bank by his roadie, who had warned him repeatedly about the perilous currents. The roadie looked away momentarily to remove a boombox from the water's edge and when he looked back, Buckley had disappeared. Six days later, on 4 June, Buckley's body was discovered floating near the city's famed Beale Street area, by a passenger on a riverboat called the American Queen.
In the days and weeks that followed, all manner of theories were put forward. Had Buckley ignored his roadie's warnings and been drunk or stoned when he went into the water? Had the intense pressure of producing a second album as sublime as his first simply been too much? The coroner concluded it was accidental drowning but the theories continued. Whatever the truth, it was a tragic end for an artist who clearly had a great deal left to give.
Jeffrey Scott Buckley was born in Orange County, California in 1966 and was the result of a short-lived relationship between cult folk singer-songwriter Tim Buckley and Mary Gulbert. From the age of four, Jeff was raised by Gulbert and his stepfather, Ron Moorhead.
"My mum would play piano and cello all the time and my stepdad had great musical taste," recalled Buckley. "I would listen to anything: The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Joni Mitchell, Judy Garland, Robert Johnson, Thelonious Monk, Bartk, Mahler. And I asked a lot of questions. Learning about music seemed effortless. I guess I must have had natural abilities. Looking back, it felt like instinct."
At five he picked up his grandmother's guitar and learnt to play it. By 13, he wrote his first song about a break-up with a girl. After graduating from high school, he studied at the Los Angeles Musicians' Institute and played in various rock and reggae bands, including a stint with dancehall reggae artist Shinehead. In 1990, he moved to New York and formed the band Gods And Monsters, a hip yet short-lived outfit.
Buckley began a solo career as a singer-songwriter, playing a borrowed Telecaster, in clubs and coffee houses in New York's East Village and building up a considerable following among audiences, critics and fellow musicians.
He was snapped up by Columbia Records and released the Live At Sin-é EP in November 1993. The EP was well received but the response was nothing compared to the rave reviews bestowed on his full-length debut album Grace, released in 1994. Unlike the EP, Buckley recorded the album with a full band, and collaborated on writing with guitarists Gary Lucas and Michael Tighe, which gave his sound fresh dynamics and textures.
It was a bold and stunning record, full of sweeping choruses and powerful arrangements. Buckley's brand of eclectic folk was distinctive and unique. As Stephen Thomas Erlewine wrote in a review for AllMusic, "Grace sounds like a Led Zeppelin album written by an ambitious folkie with a fondness for lounge jazz".
In 1998, a collection of unreleased recordings called Sketches for My Sweetheart the Drunk, was released posthumously. Two live albums appeared in 2000 and 2001, and other compilations and live albums were released.
As always when artists die young, speculation is rife about what might have been - the stellar works they may well have gone on to create. But in his short life, Jeff Buckley forged a collection of songs that enshrined him as an astonishingly innovative and unique talent.
1. Grace - Grace (1994)
There's an unbridled feel to this title track, which sets the tone for the album with its soaring vocals, intricate guitar patterns and strident, cathartic feel. At its heart, the song is a celebration of life and Buckley's vocals are emotive and intense as he conveys a sense of wonder for the beauty of the natural world. "There's the moon asking to stay / Long enough for the clouds to fly me away / Oh, it's my time coming / I'm not afraid / Afraid to die".
Vocally and instrumentally, it's reminiscent of Radiohead, which is no great surprise as Buckley was an inspiration for Thom Yorke. As Yorke's friend Dougie Payne of Travis told Far Out magazine: "When [Radiohead] were recording Fake Plastic Trees, they were having trouble with it, and they couldn't get it to work. So, they went out to see Jeff Buckley play on the tour when it was just him and his electric guitar."
The band were bowled over by Buckley's performance. "Radiohead went back to the studio and Thom completely changed the way that he was singing and used that falsetto. You can kind of see the comparisons now. And that says a lot for how inspiring the show was."
Much of the track's strength comes from the live performance in the studio. This is a band at the top of its game, honed by relentless touring and capable of taking the music to real heights. This tight unit includes the formidable talents of co-writer Gary Lucas [a guitarist from Captain Beefheart's band whose instrumental Rise Up To Be formed the basis for Grace], Danish-American bassist Mick Grondahl and drummer Matt Johnson. By the end of the track, Buckley is screaming out the high notes as the whole sonic bombast builds towards a resolution.
2. Lover You Should've Come Over - Grace (1994)
The pain and longing of unrequited love is the focus of this hauntingly beautiful ballad written with Gary Lucas, which is built around Buckley's intricate fingerpicking. There's a dreamy, melancholic feel to the track, which features a sublime string arrangement from Karl Hans Berger.
Buckley's performance here is raw and intimate and the song really showcases the emotive feel of his vocals. It has become one of his most enduring and beloved compositions.
"It's never over, my kingdom for a kiss upon her shoulder / It's never over, all my riches for her smiles when I slept so soft against her / It's never over, all my blood for the sweetness of her laughter / It's never over, she's the tear that hangs inside my soul forever."
The song runs to almost seven minutes, but it's so entrancing that you barely notice. Every syllable from Buckley sounds heartfelt and true. As ever, the chords and melodies veer to the unexpected. From the mournful organ in the intro through to the squalling jagged guitar and drum flams at the outro, this is perfection.
3. Last Goodbye - Grace (1994)
The second single from the album, after the title track, and a haunting ballad that became a belated hit in 1995. Here, Buckley mourns the death of a relationship and focuses on the pain of letting go. The chorus is soaring and anthemic, while tasteful piano and string parts add depth and texture to the song.
Even from his early solo coffee house gigs, Buckley chose to play an electric rather than an acoustic, a decision that added to his distinctively different style. Buckley mainly played a borrowed 1983 Fender Telecaster and a Rickenbacker 360/12, but also used several other guitars, including a black Gibson Les Paul Custom and a 1967 Guild F-50 acoustic. When on tour with his band, he used Fender amps for a clean sound and Mesa Boogie amps for overdriven tones.
4. Mojo Pin - Grace (1994)
Another song written with Gary Lucas (his instrumental is called And You Will) and dating back to the Live at Sin-é EP, the opening track from Grace and one that showcases his eclectic blend of folk, rock and soul.
High guitar note swells and harmonics enhance the beautifully haunting intro before Buckly's plaintive falsetto enters the mix. Sparse, fingerpicked guitar follows, forming a warm backdrop for the first few vocal lines: "I'm lying in my bed / The blanket is warm / This body will never be safe from harm / Still feel your hair, black ribbons of coal".
The lyrical premise of the song focuses on the 'mojo pin' in question being pulled from his heart, leaving him hurt and exposed. It's a restrained, tasteful arrangement, with smatterings of toms, bass and cyclical guitar picking. The whole ensemble continues to ebb and flow while Buckley's warm vocal falsetto glides and meanders across the whole.
5. Hallelujah - Grace (1994)
Written by Leonard Cohen and released on his 1984 album Various Positions, this track has been covered by artists such as John Cale, Rufus Wainwright, KD Laing, Myles Kennedy (with Jeff's Telecaster) and Regina Spektor. But it was Jeff Buckley's version that has really seared itself into the global consciousness.
It's a hauntingly beautiful cover, impeccably realised by Buckley. In his hands, the song attains a real fluidity, ebbing and flowing, quickening and slowing. Much of its power lies in its minimalism and sparsity. The only accompaniment is Buckley's guitar - his Telecaster - and this really enhances his breathtakingly emotive delivery.
His version has been perceived as sexual and Buckley once said it was "a hallelujah to the orgasm". But at its core the song is a soulful exploration of faith, love and what it means to be human. As April Johnson wrote in Singersroom.com in 2023, "Buckley's voice is both powerful and vulnerable, conveying a sense of longing and spiritual yearning that is both moving and inspirational."
Hallelujah is one of Buckley's most iconic and enduring tracks and has become a classic song in its own right. For many, it is the definitive version of Cohen's bitter lament about love and loss.

Weekly Update December 15, 2023
Finals week is done. I’m still worried about the one class but I’ve done everything I can. Next week I have some doctor appointments but otherwise am good to rest up and hopefully get more work done. I have tonight and tomorrow morning also before I have to do a long drive, so maybe I’ll finish off some other projects.
TRGA: 1-4 Tim’s tweens are done, and I have what I think is a faster strategy for tweens now as well, so all that should be moving faster. I just need to do Tim’s face and clean up his joints and he should be good for the shot, I can make and add in props and I’ll post the wip. I’m planning to do backgrounds all in one go at the end so they stay consistent from shot to shot, and sketch lines as well. I’ll probably do some of the more tedious work (exporting and reimporting sketch lines, and cleanup) in the evenings and the more brain intensive work like props during real free time.
Still chipping away at late drawing prompts. I got the rest of the Inktober set sketched, I’m nearing the ‘easy’ prompts for the cringe set, and the gore set I just haven’t had motivation for but I can maybe try to finish that one off in the next few days. Also haven’t gotten comic thumbnail stuff done since like 2 weeks ago but I might get cracking at that in the car ride tomorrow, or definitely after, there’s a lot more interest in my OCs than I thought so I really should be prioritizing that higher.
Music: real close on the one song, and recorded pieces for a piano arrangement of another thing. I wanted to doll it up with real instruments, and maybe I still will but I can also do a just piano version and throw that out. The main original I’m working on is close to done instrumentally, I was going to record the breakdown tonight but I’m a bit tired because I decided to do some chores, so maybe it’ll be tomorrow or maybe I will do it tonight. Also started poking around Melodies for a second song before realizing my retro sound chip plug-in set is a pain in the neck and will only play one note at a time so I need like 5 or 6 layers to do what I want and also the gameboy chip has hella delay for some reason. Not unfixable but annoying. Theoretically I should be moving to a new computer soonish so maybe I can try out some voice synths for the main song I’m working on since I don’t think I can sing.
I’m kinda hitting that tiredness wall but I should hopefully be able to get some rest in the coming week, get some stuff together to post, and be nice and ready. I should also mention I have a surgery coming up too which should take me out of commission for some time, idk how long, doesn’t sound very long though, at least not as long as the last one. That’s not until the week of christmas though so I should still be good to do stuff until then. Maybe I’ll draw tonight, maybe I won’t since it’s already late. I’ve been getting weird bouts of restlessness where I just decide to do a bunch of things at once, but I think I already got one when I decided to do chores. Oh well always tomorrow.

For those of you who have already seen the Valentine’s Day 2023 sketches that I posted on the dedicated official blog for my beloved fanfic, Cherish, I think you will easily recognize this piece of artwork from back then, along with the other one that I also completed a day after said post.
Seeing as Valentine’s Day has already long come and gone, however, and the ChuuArt piece I made then easily fulfilled the role of being that day’s official Cherish art piece, I have decided to use this one instead to celebrate White Day.
Those of you who have read Chapter 10 will probably recognize by now that this art is, in part, a reference to a certain scene in it, but it also has some ties to a chapter that will come out way in the future, as well. 👀 I hope someday you will enjoy looking back on this post and reminiscing on the slight foreshadowing that is being done by sharing this bit of information. lol
In any case, I hope as always that this post brightens your life a little bit in some small way. Happy White Day for those of you that celebrate! I hope it’s a good one.
Do not repost this artwork anywhere without my explicit permission or claim it as your own. See F.A.Q.s for details.
